Highlands Health & Wellness is a center for Functional Medicine located in the heart of the West Highlands neighborhood in Denver, CO.  We're seeking a Nutritionist with experience and/or interest in integrative & functional nutrition and, ideally, experience in outpatient nutrition counseling.

The ideal candidate will have strong clinical and counseling skills, a passion for helping clients get to the root of their health concerns rather than taking a band-aid approach, strong initiative and problem-solving skills, eagerness for ongoing learning and professional growth, and motivation in helping grow the business. The position will include providing some web-based telehealth services and program development opportunities.

Job Responsibilities:

The Food Assistance Navigator will:

  • Answer hotline calls; screen callers for SNAP eligibility; provide referrals to food pantries and other food assistance programs

  • Help all potentially eligible customers apply for SNAP through the Colorado PEAK website or through a paper application

  • Educate the customer on the remaining steps of the process to prepare the individual for their interview with their local human services office

  • Provide SNAP application assistance at mobile outreach locations using established procedures

  • Track all customers in Salesforce database

  • Provide follow-up to SNAP applicants to ensure timely submission of documents

  • Provide state-wide technical assistance and support to customers, community based organizations and communities working on expanding SNAP participation

  • Present SNAP and hotline information to community partners, as needed

  • Maintain accurate knowledge of all federal food programs rules and regulations

  • Provide excellent customer service

  • Other duties as assigned


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High School Diploma required; Associates degree preferred or 12 months’ experience working in a human services field or call center

  • Demonstrated experience and comfort working with diverse individuals and economically disadvantaged populations

  • Organized with exceptional attention for details and accuracy

  • Occasional evening and weekend work required

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Outlook and Excel

  • Familiarity with Sales Force or another CRM system preferred

.05 FTE Instructor/Lecturer contract renewable, 12-month appointment.  Undergraduate teaching and advising.  Service to program, school, college, university, and profession.  

 Minimum Qualifications: 

This position requires a Doctoral Degree (for Instructor level) in foods, nutrition, dietetics, or closely related field OR, a master’s degree (for Lecturer level) in foods, nutrition, dietetics or closely related field with 2 years of related experience not including a dietetic internship.  Additional requirements include: Dietetic Registration and evidence of teaching experience (faculty or TA) at a college/university level or experience providing in-service education to physicians/other health care providers.

Preferred Qualifications: 

The successful candidate will have expertise in medical nutrition therapy, nutrition assessment, food service, food science, cultural foods or nutrition education.  Experience with online teaching and programs; practical experience in an area of foods and/or nutrition; experience in program management and administration; experience with ACEND accredited programs; willingness to advise students; evidence of activity in professional organizations and membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is preferred.  Experience with collaborative/outreach campus and community partnerships is desirable.  

Salary and Benefits

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Benefits available include health, life, and dental insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement programs.  Dependents and spouses of UNC employees whom are employed as 0.5 FTE or above are entitled to and eligible for Dependent Tuition Grants.  These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges.   Further requirements may exist.
